Double Star Flexicube (David Brill)

This is my second fold of the model. I decided to use slightly thicker paper for the 24 modules, and thinner paper for the 8 hinges. The first time I folded it I have to admit I though "Never again!", because while assembling the model, a bit here or there kept falling apart. But then again, it unnerves me if something doesn't quite work. So after a couple of hours break I cut some more paper and gave it another try. My second fold is much more stable than the first one, so using thicker paper did help. And I think I was a bit more patient the second time round. But then again, I was done more quickly, too.

Paper: 24 sheets of red A8 paper, 8 sheets of orange A8 paper
Folded: 23 October 2008

double star flexicube

I cant quite figure out how to make the double star flexicube Is there another way to make the double star flexicube. Is there a template that is easy enough for an eleven year old

star of david

Hi there,
Do you know of any very simple way to fold paper into a (flat) star of David ? I once saw a way of doing it starting with a triangular shaped piece of paper but I can't remembe how it went. I want to do this with my school pupils aged around 8 or 9.
I'd be really grateful if you knew something simple I could teach them.
Many thanks,
Lee

Traditional star

Hi Lee,

Yes, there's an easy way of getting a Star of David from a triangle. You won't have to precut paper, though, because it's quite easy to get an equilateral triangle from printing paper (both A4 and letter will do). David has done some nice diagrams, which you might find helpful: http://www.davidpetty.me.uk/mom/mom109.htm
It should be a model well suited for 8 to 9 year olds.

Hope this helps,

Nicely done. I folded the

Nicely done. I folded the model from A8

nice

nicely done and can you put a video on the seated cat by david brill

can you put a video on how

can you put a video on how to put two stars together

YOU R AMZING

WOW I LOVE YOU CAN DO ALL OF THESE THINGS IF I CAN DO THINGS LIKE YOU I WOULD SELL THEM THATS WHAT YOU SHOILD DO BECASUE YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

What a coincidence!

I 've started on my double star flexicube as well. I thought I should use two different colors for each star to give the model a mystifying look.

P.S. The paper used for folding the model is A7 or A6 though I suggest using A7.

A8

I folded the model from A8. I think using anything larger just results in too big a model.

measured it

well, I measured the A7 result of the model and each cube is about one inch.

Are you sure about the A7?

Hm, are you sure you used A7? My cubes are the same size: 1in x 1in x 1in. I cut an A4 sheet into 16 sheets, which makes them A8 (2 A5, 4 A6, 8 A7, 16 A8).

oh well

Well, the A8 size I guess is less wasteful.
