I tried your's tutorial for Whirlpool Spiral in Inkscape. I did them but my question is what does it mean this S in the name of this spiral?

The book gives some information on different categories of whirlpool spirals and coil folds.

Do you have to do any cutting on the parallelogram or just cut out a basic parallelogram ?
