Truncated Icosahedron from PHiZZ Units (Tom Hull)

Phew, I've finished my truncated icosahedron from PHiZZ units. After figuring out how you could 3-colour a truncated icosahedron, I kind of wanted to give it a try. Now you know I'm not the biggest fan of modular origami, so making a 90-unit modular piece is no small feat for me. But here it is...

Paper: 90 square sheets with side length 2.85cm, Pacon paper (30 red, 30 pink, 30 white)
Model: sphere with diameter of 7cm

Mushroom (Vincent Floderer): Crumpling

Review of the paper used:

I stumbled upon this video by Vincent Floderer demonstrating how to fold his mushroom. While you might argue whether it's still origami or not, it is definitely an interesting technique.
I'll avoid the discussion by simply calling it "crumpling". Anyone know what crumple means in Japanese? Google translate suggest: 揉む (crumpling) or 揉む紙 (crumpling paper).

Paper: 48cm square of Kraft paper (28gsm) - leftover from a failed attempt of another model
Model: 14.5cm height, 10cm diameter

Eagle (Sara Adams)

This is my first attempt at designing. I tried to create an eagle in no more than 30 folds that still captures the essence of Hung Cuong Nguyen's eagle (2008).
It is my submission to the design challenge for August 2009, which was about creating a model in up to 30 folds that imitates a highly complex model.

Paper: 20cm square
Model: 12cm long, 17cm wide
