Paper: 6 sheets of kami, 5.8cm by 2.9cm (approx. 2 1/4in by 1 1/8 in)
Model: star with a diameter of 5.5cm (2 1/8in) and a depth of 2.5cm (1in)

Yesterday I had the idea of making a 3D star from the Sparaxis units, inspired by another model presented in Katja's book. I like it! The picture shows front and reverse of the model, the different colors were achieved with patterned paper.

I've long loved Katja's fantastic website, so I was super excited to hear about her book. Here's my first fold from it! It took a while, but I absolutely love it.

Sakura Star (Ali Bahmani): Greeting Card

Review of the paper used:

Paper for the star: pentagon from a 15cm square of blue/purple batik paper
Model: diameter of 7.5cm
Paper for the envelope and card: Elephant Hide, batik paper

Sometimes I get asked what I do with my folded models. While I don't do this nearly often enough, I do give some models away.
The Sakura Star when folded flat makes a really nice focal point of a greeting card. I also gave away two more three-dimensional Sakura Stars attached to an envelope, which I hand-delivered.
